Topic: Departure of bride in Shadow of Quran   (No-1043)

What do respected Muftis have to say about the issue where there is a custom that mother or father puts Quran on head of daughter while she is departing to new home after marriage? This is considered as a good deed and the person who does not follow this is taunted. Kindly grant a satisfactory answer

It should be clear that the custom of departing the bride under the shadow of Quran Majeed is completely wrong. There is no evidence of this act in Shariah. In addition, defining new customs for departing bride and considering those as part of Shariah is bida'at therefore it is necessary to relinquish it
