Attending the gatherings of Allah’s righteous servants, gaining ilm (knowledge) from them, listening to their sermons, and establishing a reformative relationship with them is not only permissible but also encouraged. However, believing that they have control and influence over worldly affairs after their deaths and can bring benefit or harm to people is a form of shirk (polytheism). Holding such a belief is haram.
The belief of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah regarding intercession is that seeking intercession through the Prophets, righteous people, or good deeds is permissible and can even positively impact the acceptance of duas. There is evidence for intercession in dua in many hadiths. However, seeking intercession in dua is not obligatory; one can make dua without it. Therefore, considering it obligatory or necessary is not correct.

عن ثُمَامَةَ بنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ إِذَا قَحَطُوا اسْتَسْقَى بِالْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّنَا فَتَسْقِينَا وَإِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّنَا فَاسْقِنَا قَالَ فَيُسْقَوْنَ۔

من اعتقد ان الاولياء والصلحاء بعد مفارقة ارواحهم من الابدان يتصرفون في الكون ولهم قدرة ان يغيثوا من استغاثهم ويسمع و ويصلون للاعانة من اي مكان ينادون فهذا الاعتقاد لا اصل له في الدين من الكتاب وسنه، وقد صرح الفقهاء بخلافه حيث قالوا في باب المرتد: ويكفر بقوله ارواح المشائخ حاضرة تعلم.

كيلو في المساله ان التوسل بالمخلوق له تفاسير ثلاثه: الاول دعائه واستغاثته.... وهو حرام اجماعا... والثاني طلب الدعاء منه ولم يثبت في الميت بدليل فيختص هذا المعنى بالحي والثالث دعاء الله ببركة هذا المخلوق المقبول وهذا قد جوزوه الجمهور.
