It was narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “There are people who fast and get nothing from their fast except hunger, and there are those who pray and get nothing from their prayer but a sleepless night.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith No: 1690)
Let us all aspire to refrain from sins during this blessed Ramadan so that our fasts and righteous deeds are accepted readily in the court of Allah. Let us aim to avoid all activities that cause the disobedience of Allah, such as watching inappropriate content, listening to music, and engaging in idle talk. For this, let’s make the intention to keep our TVs turned off and avoid social media for the full duration of Ramadan. Alhumdulillah, this principle (keeping TVs turned off and avoiding social media during Ramadan) is upheld in many households even in today’s age.
Indeed, by adhering to this principle during this blessed month, you will experience tranquillity in your heart and mind, love and harmony in your home, blessings and mercy from Allah, and protection from Shaitan’s influence. Above all, it will bring us closer to Allah, which will be sufficient to solve our problems in this world and in the akhirah as well.
