Topic: Providing Iftar to Fasting Relatives   (No-13456)

Assalamualaikum Mufti Sahab! Iftar can be provided to people who are fasting in many different ways. Which of the 4 ways of providing iftar listed below will bring me the most reward?
1) Inviting my relatives to have Iftar at my house
2) Handing out iftar packs to commuters on the roads
3) Giving to the poor and needy
4) Helping out my close relatives such as brothers or sisters who are not doing well financially by giving them some money as a gift on a daily or monthly basis

In the given situation, it is best for you to provide iftar to those relatives who are most deserving (i.e., the ones that are not doing well financially). In doing so, you will receive the reward for silah rahmi (maintaining family ties) in addition to the reward for providing iftar.

سنن الترمذی: (باب مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِ مَنْ فَطَّرَ صَائِمًا، رقم الحدیث: 807)
عن زيد بن خالد الجهني، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من فطر صائما كان له مثل اجره غير انه لا ينقص من اجر الصائم شيئا "۔
