Topic: Is Suhoor Necessary for Fasting?   (No-15792)

Q
I work as a salesman at a shoe store which remains open until 2 a.m during Ramadan. By the time I return from work, I am quite exhausted. My father once woke me up for suhoor, but being extremely tired, I asked him to let me sleep saying that I would fast without having Suhoor. My father insisted that I should have suhoor because my fast would not be valid without it. Although I did reluctantly eat suhoor that day, I still felt doubtful about this matter.
Please guide me in this regard, is suhoor really necessary? Is my fast invalid without it?

a Eating Suhoor is a mustahab practice which means that eating suhoor brings reward and if someone skips it, there is no sin.
However, for one's fast to be considered valid, having suhoor is not obligatory. Therefore, if someone fasts without having suhoor, their fast is still considered valid.
