Topic: The Shariah ruling on fasting on the days of menstruation (Hadh) In case of lack of strength   (No-14673)

Q An elderly woman asks that she did not observe the fasts (Roza) for the days she was menstruating (Hadh) during her youth. Now that she is old, she cannot observe that many fasts (Roza). What is the Islamic ruling for her?

a It is obligatory to Qaza (make up) for the fasts (Roza) missed due to menstruation (Hadh). Therefore, in the given situation, the woman should calculate the total number of missed fasts (Roza) and try to Qaza (make up) for them. If she is unable to Qaza (make up) for all of them due to her age, she can pay Fidyah (Redemption) instead.
However, it is important to remember that even after paying Fidyah (Redemption), if she ever regains the strength to Qaza (make up) for the missed fasts (Roza), she will still be obligated to do so
