Topic: Ruling regarding a fast that has been broken before sunset   (No-15705)

Q I fasted today and broke my fast after hearing the azan (call to prayer) from an Ahl e Hadith mosque at Maghrib time. I thought it was the azan from other mosques. Is my fast valid or not?

a It is important to note that the time for fasting is until ghuroob (sunset). Therefore, if you broke your fast after ghuroob, your fast is valid. However, if you broke your fast before ghuroob, it will become obligatory for you to perform Qada (make up) for that day's fast.
