Topic: Pocket money for One's Wife   (No-18115)

Q My wife insists that I give her pocket money, claiming that it is my responsibility to do so. I disagree and don't give her any. Is it necessary for me to provide her with a personal Pocket money?

a It is the husband's responsibility to provide for his wife's basic needs: such as food, drink, clothing, and shelter. Allocating a certain amount of money as a Pocket money is not a basic need; therefore, it is not necessary for the husband to give his wife pocket money.
That being said, since women occasionally require money for miscellaneous expenses, it is better for the husband to allocate a periodic allowance for his wife as a pocket money, according to his financial situation.
