Topic: Duration of Iddah for a Divorced Woman    (No-21313)

Q How long does a woman need to observe the iddah after a divorce? Is it three months and ten days, or a full three months? Kindly elaborate.

a It should be noted that if a divorced woman is not pregnant, her iddah (waiting period) will continue until the end of three complete menstrual cycles following the divorce. However, if she is pregnant, the iddah will last until she gives birth. In cases where a divorced woman, due to her age, does not menstruate, her iddah period is three months.
