Topic: Ruling on Iddah in Case of Divorce before Rukhsati    (No-21368)

Q If a man divorces his wife before the rukhsati, is the woman obligated to observe iddah?

a If the couple has had a meeting in which they were both completely alone meaning that "khalwat e saheeh" had been established, before the rukhsati, then if they get divorced, the woman is obligated to observe iddah (waiting period). However, if they have not met in complete seclusion (khalwat e saheehah) it is not obligatory for the woman to observe iddah.
