Topic: Does Making the Intention for Qurbani Make it Obligatory to Perform Qurbani?    (No-24868)

Q
We had made the intention to perform Qurbani this year and had set aside money to purchase a goat and another animal. However, our house is currently being renovated, and we are short on funds. Can we use the money saved for the goat to cover the renovation costs?
Note: Qurbani is obligatory only on six members of our household.

It should be understood that merely making the intention to perform Qurbani does not make it obligatory for a person to do so.
Therefore, in the situation described, the person who made the intention to sacrifice a goat on the occasion of Eid al-Adha may use the money set aside for the goat to cover household expenses.
