Give away girls during reconciliation (No-442)
Respected Muftis, in our region, while doing reconciliation over murders and bloody conflicts between two groups, the group whose people got murdered asks for a girl or 2 girls or 3 girls of the opponents. This is termed as Soorah in native terminology. Without this, reconciliation does not happen. So, the question is that, is it permissible to give away girls in this way?
It should be clear that reconciliation is done on something that is an asset. A free woman however, is not an asset, therefore, in regards to the scenario in questions, girls cannot be given while doing reconciliation over murders and bloody conflicts. There isn't any evidence in shariah to support this. This is simply an ugly custom that is based on ignorance and it is necessary to eliminate this custom
