Choosing a Name for a Child Before Birth

Is it permissible to choose a name for a child a few months before birth, or to intend that if the child is a boy, a certain name will be given, and if it is a girl, a different name will be given?
It is permissible to propose a good, meaningful name for a child before birth. There is no Shari'i prohibition against doing so.
