The Islamic teachings on naming a child are as follows:
1) A child should be named after one of the Prophets, the Sahabah al-Kiram, the Tabi'in, or the Awliya Allah, or alternatively given any other name that carries a good meaning.
2) A child may be named on any day after birth. However, it is recommended that the name be given on the seventh day.
