Topic: Naming a Child "Ibrahim al-Din"

(No-66054)

Q Mufti Sahib, what is the meaning of the name Muhammad Ibrahim al-Din, and is there any problem with using it?

a"Ibrahim" (ابراہیم) is a non-Arabic word meaning capable and fortunate. On its own, it is an excellent and complete name. However, adding "al-Din" to "Ibrahim" does not produce a meaningful combined word. It is therefore more appropriate to use simply "Muhammad Ibrahim" (محمد ابراہیم) rather than "Muhammad Ibrahim al-Din" (محمد ابراہیم الدین). Allah the Almighty knows best.
