It is permissible to express devotion and love for a great figure by affiliating oneself with them. However, adding titles such as "Siddiqui" (صدیقی) or "Faruqi" (فاروقی) to one's name creates the risk of deception, as listeners may assume that the person has an actual family connection to that companion. Since falsely claiming a lineage is haram, this practice is not permissible.

عن أبي بکر رضي اللّٰہ عنہ یقول: سمعتہ أذناي، ووعاہ قلبي محمدًا صلی اللّٰہ علیہ وسلم یقول: من ادعیٰ إلی غیر أبیہ، وہو یعلم أنہ غیر أبیہ، فالجنۃ علیہ حرام۔
