Topic: Ruling on the Permissibility of Performing Tayammum for a Paralysis Patient Even When Warm Water is Available

(No-33580)

Q Due to health issues, I have been partially paralysed twice, and in winters I face serious difficulty taking regular baths, even with hot water. After marriage, I often become in a state of janabah (impurity due to marital relations). I sincerely want to pray regularly, but I am unable to perform ghusl daily because of my health.
Is there any permissible alternative for purification in my situation?
Is it allowed to wash the body without washing hair or to pour water only from the waist down and then offer salah? If not, what is the correct Islamic solution for someone with genuine medical difficulty?
I feel very guilty missing prayers and want to follow Islam correctly. Please guide me.

aIn the situation described, if there is a strong likelihood (غلبة الظّن), based on your past condition, that using water to perform wudu will cause paralysis, then it would be permissible for you to perform ‘tayammum’ and pray. It will be mandatory for you to perform qaza (make up) for the prayers you have missed in the past, and you must also repent and seek forgiveness for missing them.
The method of ‘tayammum’ is as follows:
Strike both hands once on clean earth, then shake off any excess dust. Wipe your entire face with both hands, making sure that no part is left uncovered. Then strike both hands on the earth again, shake the excess off, and wipe both arms up to and including the elbows. If you are wearing a ring or any similar item, remove it, and make sure to pass your fingers properly between each other. With this, your ‘tayammum’ will be complete.
