The method of performing Tayammum is as follows:
1) Make the intention to purify yourself.
2) Strike both hands on pure earth and shake off some of the earth.
3) Rub your face with both hands, ensuring that not even a spot as small as a hair remains untouched.
4) Strike the pure earth again with both hands.
5) Rub your forearms including your elbows, again ensuring that not even a spot as small as a hair remains untouched.

عمار بن ياسر رضى الله عنه لعمر بن الخطاب رضى الله عنه : أما تذكر أنا كنا في سفر أنا وأنت، فأما أنت فلم تصل وأما أنا فتمعكت فصليت فذكرت للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم :«إنما كان يكفيك هكذا» فضرب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بكفيه الأرض، ونفخ فيهما، ثم مسح بهما وجهه وكفيه.
