Topic: Ruling of Praying Sitting down due to pain    (No-27004)

Q Respected Mufti, I have a wound on my knee, and if I go into prostration during Salah, there is a risk of excessive pain or bleeding. Am I allowed to sit between rukūʿ (bowing) and sujūd (prostration) in such a way that I raise one leg and sit on the other, and perform sujūd by gesture (ishārah)? Kindly advise.

aIn the situation described, if performing sajdah (prostration) causes excessive pain or poses a risk of bleeding due to the knee wound, it is permissible to perform sajdah by gesture (اشارہ). Likewise, it is also permissible to sit in a manner where one leg is raised while sitting on the other, placing both hands on the knees. In such cases, when performing sajdah by gesture, one should bow lower than in rukūʿ (bowing) to clearly distinguish between the two postures.
