The method of performing Ṣalāh on an aeroplane is the same as performing it anywhere else.
The farḍ and wājib prayers must be performed within their prescribed time while standing and facing the Qiblah.
If, due to limited space or airline regulations, a person is unable to perform the farḍ or wājib prayer on the aeroplane while standing and facing the Qiblah, then the prayer performed while seated will not be valid.
However, in order not to let the prayer time pass without any observance, he should perform tashabbuh bil-muṣallīn (i.e.,to imitate the act of prayer by remaining seated and facing the direction that is reasonably possible), and then, upon reaching a place where it is possible to pray while standing and facing the Qiblah, he must repeat the prayer.

و في الخلاصة و فتاوى قاضي خان و غيرهما: الأسير في يد العدو إذا منعه الكافر عن الوضوء و الصلاة يتيمم و يصلي بالإيماء ثم يعيد إذا خرج، و كذا لو قال لعبده: إن توضأت حبستك أو قتلتك، فإنه يصلي بالتيمم ثم يعيد كالمحبوس؛ لأن طهارة التيمم لم تظهر في منع وجوب الإعادة، و في التجنيس: رجل أراد أن يتوضأ فمنعه إنسان عن أن يتوضأ بوعيد، قيل: ينبغي أن يتيمم و يصلي ثم يعيد الصلاة بعد ما زال عنه؛ لأن هذا عذر جاء من قبل العباد فلا يسقط فرض الوضوء عنه اه. فعلم منه أن العذر إن كان من قبل الله تعالى لا تجب الإعادة و إن كان من قبل العبد وجبت الإعادة.
