Please note that if the imam is a resident and the followers are travellers according to Shariah, the travelling Muqtadis (followers) must pray the full fard prayer behind the resident imam. This means they will pray four rak’ahs for the fard of Zuhr, Asr and Isha, and will not end the prayer with salam after two rak’ahs. This is because a traveller who prays behind a resident imam is required to complete the full prayer.
If the imam is a traveller, he will lead two rak’ahs for the fard of Zuhr, Asr and Isha and then end the prayer with salam. Any resident followers praying behind him will stand up after his salam and complete their remaining two rak’ahs. The travelling Muqtadis (followers), however, will pray two rak’ahs with the imam and end the prayer with salam together with him.

وإن اقتدى المسافر بالمقيم في الوقت أتم أربعا " لأنه يتغير فرضه إلى أربع للتبعية كما يتغير بنية الإقامة لاتصال المغير بالسبب وهو الوقت.

وعلى هذا إذا اقتدى مسافر بمقيم في الوقت ( أتم ) صلاته ( أربعا لأنه ) التزم المتابعة لمن فرضه الأربع ، ومن التزم المتابعة لمن فرضه أربع ( يتغير فرضه إلى أربع للتبعية كما يتغير بنية الإقامة).

وإن صلى المسافر بالمقيمين ركعتين سلم وأتم المقيمون صلاتهم " لأن المقتدي التزم الموافقة في الركعتين فينفرد في الباقي كالمسبوق إلا أنه لا يقرأ في الأصح لأنه مقتد تحريمة لا فعلا والفرض صار مؤدى فيتركها احتياطا بخلاف المسبوق لأنه أدرك قراءة نافلة فلم يتأد الفرض فكان الإتيان أولى.

(وصح اقتداء المقيم بالمسافر في الوقت وبعده فاذا قام ) المقيم (الي الاتمام لايقرأ) ولا يسجد للسهو (في الاصح) لانه كلاحق.
